Introduction to the Platinum Rule
Assessment
Taking the Golden Rule to the Next Level.
“The Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated.”
Platinum Rule: “Treat others as they want to be treated.”
Good advice, but how can you know the
preferences of others? Actually, fairly easily – if you have
a method. The Platinum Rule Assessment gives you an approach
that works.
The Platinum Rule is a superb tool for helping you as an
executive or manager to develop productive relationships
through understanding what drives people and recognizing
options for dealing with them.
The assessment itself, and the reports that it provides are
based on a behavioral preference model. The reports will
give you insights into your own habitual behavior – how you
take initiative and how you react to others. They also
provide insights into the behavior and preferences of
others, so that you can actually practice the platinum rule!
What it is and what it does:
-
a self-reporting instrument and
multi-rater tool (you can invite observer input)
-
measures and reports on your “natural”
or habitual behaviors
-
is non-judgmental – there are no right
or wrong styles, just different styles
-
is well researched with validity and
reliability studies
What it is not:
-
a personality test
-
a classification into “good” or “bad”
-
an indicator of adaptability or
versatility
-
a measurement of intelligence, values,
professional skills or attitudes
Can be used for:
-
team building
-
self-awareness and self-development
-
interpersonal and communication skills
-
conflict management and negotiation
skills

What clients are saying...
"First, I just want to thank you for coaching our
office. It surprised me that any manager that I have
ever worked for would take the time and money to include
her staff on something that I feel is so beneficial on
having one reflect on him/herself and learn more about
other co-workers and how to work together and work with
different personalities. So my hat goes off to [my boss]
for wanting to aid and help harmonize the office and our
personal environments.
I also found it helpful to help me to reflect on the
different personalities and how to use these new skills
on working on communicating on a playing field that the
individual can relate to. It also helped my wife and I
to continue to improve our marriage/relationship by
talking about the course and also to continue to apply
these things along with other things we do to continue
to grow closer and better understand each other.
I found your coaching style to be very calming, and
enjoyable. Your peacable, exciting personality kept me
interested and challenged me to take this seriously and
to apply it to help me and to help improve our work
environment. I also felt comfortable with you which
allowed me to trust you and open up to you, but hey as a
socializer, would you expect anything else........ :) "
Thanks, Denis
“Through Anne’s coaching, I developed my
understanding of personal styles which are very different
from mine. While the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator has been
very helpful for work styles, the Platinum Rule helps more
with interpersonal relations — a key to leading well, not
just directing.” --- J. Colburn, Health Sciences Library
Director, MAHEC, Asheville NC
"Through my coaching with Anne I improved my management
skills. For one thing, I don't let small issues get big any
more before I address them. My communication skills have
improved and it was very helpful to have someone to discuss
management issues with when my boss wasn't the appropriate
person or didn't have time. The Platinum Rule assessment
that we used also gave me a big eye opening about how others
perceive me. I recommend Anne's services to anyone. If
you're open and willing, you'll get a lot of benefit."
