Ordinary
Brilliance
It takes ONE MINUTE to read this mini- newsletter on how to use your "ordinary
brilliance"
to discover the secrets of solving life & business challenges.
Your Most Important Activity When Life
Is Going Crazy
It’s that time
of the year when most of us celebrate some deeply important
religious or spiritual holiday – Christmas, Hannukah,
Kwanzaa, Solstice….
For me it’s
also a time of extra gratitude. I extend my gratitude
to you, my loyal Ordinary Brilliance subscribers. Your many
positive comments, feedback and questions throughout the
year make me feel connected to you, even if we’ve never met
in person.
I am also
grateful for my clients who generously share with me
their trials and triumphs and keep moving forward, creating
better lives for themselves. They face a wide variety of
challenges such as dealing with the intricacies of
family-owned business; letting go of profitable but
unfulfilling clients; healing from cancer; growing a
business by 50% and sustaining all the employees and their
families; relocating a business to a new city; or improving
communication with a spouse to ensure family harmony.
Others are
leaving behind a contaminated marriage or a senior position
with toxic management and moving into the unknown;
installing new habits and systems to stop working 80 hours a
week in order to preserve sanity, family and health; or
reclaiming the work they were born to do. And so much more.
Your one
week experiment
Here’s a
simple but effective exercise to try this coming week.
When you wake up, before you get out of bed, think of
one thing you are grateful for. Just dwell for a moment
in your mind on that thing, feeling it fully.
Do the same
when you turn out the light to go to sleep. Just think of
one thing you are grateful for and dwell for a moment in
your mind on that thing, feeling it fully.
I’ve been
doing this for the past week, and I believe it works because
it’s so simple. Sure it’s great to write down 10 things
you’re grateful for every day, but at this especially hectic
time of year, we need ultra-simple habits to keep us
sane and focused on the positive. As you know, being
grateful is one of the most powerful stances we can take in
our lives. It’s an attitude that attracts to us more of what
we want in our lives.
It can seem
counter-intuitive to focus on what we're grateful for, when
things are going crazy, yet we know we get more of whatever
we focus on. That's really the best time, the most important
time to do it. There is always something to be
grateful for.
For all who
share part of their lives with me, whether as a subscriber,
client, colleague, friend or family member, please know,
I am grateful for you.
