Anne - thanks for a great post! While I thought you hit the nail on the head, the part that really resonated with me is that life isn't a marathon -- it's really a series of short sprints. I've found that anticipating and planning for those sprints is essential in terms of energy management and staying focused on priorities. One of my best accomplishments for 2010 (so far) is getting better at "business triage" - letting myself delay (or sometimes completely ignore) the things that aren't part of my current focus/priority. It's been a HUGE mental shift from trying to be productive all the time (and failing) to being super-productive on the things that matter.

Anne, you've hit on some really important, helpful points and I appreciate your generosity in sharing so much information. It's important to NOT be afraid to be different! There are SO many websites out there, that we have to create our own "voice" and be able to relate to our target audience. For instance, with my own site, I don't want to be Wikipedia about Golden Retrievers--just your fellow dog lover.

Being a creature of habit has served me well, enabling me to get more done in less time because the pattern is in place. And those breaks throughout the day are SO important--and my dogs remind me if I forget, that it's time to go for a walk, get their chewies, feed them, etc. I'd be glued to the computer without their helpful insistence!

Thanks for sharing your keen insights with us. They're always valuable and appreciated.
