Intuition and feelings
Intuitive feelers
Are you an intuitive feeler? If you’ve taken a
Myers-Briggs assessment and have an NF in the four letter
code, you are! If you’ve never taken the assessment, take a
moment and see if you identify with the following:
- Intuitive feelers…
- Trust inspiration and inference
- Like new ideas and concepts
- Value imagination and innovation
- Like to learn new skills; get bored easily after
mastering skills
- Tend to be general and figurative; use metaphors,
analogies, symbols
- Are oriented toward the future
- Consider the effect of actions on others
- Value empathy and harmony; see the exception to the
rule
- Place extra emphasis on personal values, considering
how a decision will affect others
- Naturally like to please others; show appreciation
easily
- Are sympathetic to other’s emotional pain and show
special sensitivity to those in need
- Are more interested in people than things
- Consider it important to be tactful as well as
truthful
- Use persuasion more than argument to convince others
- Believe any feeling is valid, whether it makes sense
or not
- Are motivated by a desire to be appreciated
“Intuitive feelers are interested in meanings,
relationships and possibilities. They make decisions based
on personal values. They are concerned about personal growth
and understanding for themselves and others. Their motto
could be “To thine own self be true.” They are spiritually
philosophical and place a high value on authenticity and
integrity. They focus on human potential and are often
gifted at helping others to grow and develop. They are
excellent communicators and are catalysts for positive
change.” - Do What You Are: Discover the Perfect Career For
You Through The Secrets of Personality Type, by Paul Tieger

Intuitive feelers are committed to “living a life of
significance, making a difference in the world…[They seek]
integrity, that is, unity. There must be no facade, no mask,
no pretense, no sham, no paying of roles. To have integrity
is to be genuine, to communicate authentically, to be in
harmony with the inner experiences of self.” (Please
Understand Me, by Keirsey & Bates)
Do you ever feel a bit unusual or different? Intuitive
feelers (of which I am one) comprise 12% of the US
population. Some of the other types comprise up to 38% of
the population.
Understanding yourself can help increase your
self-acceptance, not always easy when sometimes you feel so
different. From there we can develop and unleash your full
potential.
If you are not an intuitive feeler, don't worry! I coach
many people who are other personality types.
